Of Disembodied Souls and Displacement
What form do the expelled dead take when they hit the Material plane? Do they become ghosts that can only be appeased by being returned to Paradise, spectres or wraiths consumed by their hatred of the soul that displaced them? Or do they depart the Material for another afterlife instantly (or after their period of hatred is over)? I suppose it's not strictly necessary to say, since any DM who cares will make something up... but I do so love the details. Nice environment, btw. Techpriest88 23:41, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
- Expelled dead from the Paradise plane work just like expelled dead from any other afterlife plane, apart from the whole hatred thing. As far as I know, there aren't any strict rules for what happens when you open a Gate to Ysgard and shove dead people through it. --Foxwarrior 00:50, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
- In one of the War of the Spider Queen novels a halfling was accidentally planeshifted (I think) away from his afterlife. He became some form of corporeal undead, although I forget just what. That provides a little bit of "official" precedent, for anyone who cares.

- I would think that the undead type most suitable for bodiless creatures being removed bodily from the afterlife would be the ghost, if you're using the SRD, since they don't actually have a spawning mechanism, and possess a fair bit of hatred. If you actually want to bring someone back to life, you should probably transport them to a different afterlife, wait for them to stop hating you, and then cast one of those raise dead spells. --Foxwarrior 01:00, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
