I thought this was an "E.D." pistol. that would just be rude. --NameViolation 03:35, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
A Talk is PageEdit
The wording of the article is awkward. I detect a sleepy author. Anyhow, below is an attempt at clarification. Take what you need. --Ganteka Future 03:37, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
The ED Pistol is a simple one-shot handgun with significent damage potential. It is an "exploding dice" weapon. Whenever you roll maximum on your damage die roll (for example an 8 on a 1d8), you may roll another damage die. Continue rolling additional damage dice each time you roll the highest result. Damage dice lower than 1d4 do not gain the exploding dice benefit.
While ED Pistols offer the chance for greater damage, they also suffer a chance of mishap. When you roll a natural one on an attack roll with an ED Pistol, roll a d20 and consult below:
|1||Your weapon explodes, reducing it to 1 HP as well as becoming broken and jammed. You are dealt its base weapon damage. It must be repaired before it is again usable.|
|2-7||Your weapon jams. A successful Disable Device or Craft Firearms check, DC 20, will repair it. Doing this takes a full-round action.|
|8-13||Your weapon is damaged. It loses 5 HP (to a minimum of 1) and deals its base weapon damage as if it were one size smaller until it is repaired.|
|14-20||You simply miss.|
You can shoot, but not load, an ED pistol with one hand at no penalty. You can shoot an ED pistol with each hand, but you take a penalty on attack rolls as if attacking with two light weapons.
- Sleepy indeed. Thou are awesome. I am using this. If the exploding dice thing works, I'll be making a few martial and exotic ED Guns too. Revolver, Rifle, Machine Gun, etc. -- Eiji Hyrule 03:41, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
Shouldn't you mention what kind of ammo it uses? It helps people like me figure out what I need to reload it. I'd guess that it uses standard bullets and gunpowder, except that the description makes me think of a bullet that can do more damage now and then, maybe a mildly explosive substance propelled by a shell of gunpowder. Like a caseless bullet.YX33A 22:39, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
- Standard bullets, though if a DM wished it, yeah they can do special ammo. Specifically I was adding the 'exploding dice' mechanic to guns, when i get time I'll make a whole ED series of guns, aka Explding Dice series. It's sort of an in-built variant rule I suppose. -- Eiji Hyrule 22:57, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity, how much ammo would this hold and what does "ED" stand for? 220.127.116.11 01:03, November 4, 2011 (UTC)
