Spider Swarm
Among solitary spiders, swarms of spiders are rare. However spider hatchlings congregate into swarms for a short time before they grow old enough to survive alone. Other swarms may be ordinary adult spiders controlled by an outside influence.

Spider Swarm Tactics
Spider swarms are mindless, swarming around their foes and relying on weight of numbers to bring down their foes.
Spider Swarm Lore
A character knows the following information with a successful arachana or nature check.
- DC 10 (arachana), DC 15 (nature): Spider swarms are generally made up of hatchlings. Hatchlings are usually found in large numbers with their mothers; one of the few exceptions to the spiders' solitary behavior.
- DC 20 (arachana), DC 25 (nature): Though spiders are typically solitary, some are members of so-called "spider colonies". Such colonies cannot exist without guidance from a more intelligent being, such as an arachnomancer or demonspider. Within such colonies, hatchlings are usually found in the common retreat.
Encounter Groups
Spiders are generally solitary, but can be found with other spiders, drow, ettercaps and driders.

- 20 Spiderlings (level 1 minion)
