The bird singing in front of you makes an entire gambit of sounds, from chirps to foghorns. Its body appears to be partially constructed of paper and reeds, and its feathers are like grass.
Songbird Homunculi are creatures created by the spell Ell's Handy Homunculus. They are generally used as entertainment, as they can make a whole array of sounds, and play back songs learned. They also make fine alarm clocks.
Songbirds have a +8 racial bonus to Perform (Sing) checks.
While generally constructs are neutral, a homunculi picks up the alignment of its creator on casting.
Handy homunculi make poor weapons. It may claw with its talons once, then flee, using sound to trick the enemy into thinking there is something dangerous where it went. It is not generally smart enough to know this off hand, but through trial and error it discovers what is effective and what is not.
The body is made of plant matter, paper, and fabric, with the core crystal often embedded in the throat. A drop of the caster's blood is placed down the throat, which hums a rising tune on casting Ell's Handy Homunculus. The entire cost of supplies equals 500 gp.
Assembling the body requires a DC 15 Craft (weaving) or Craft (origami) check.
