The Coloth

Summary::Tall, four-armed amphibious squid-like folk.

Personality

Colothi are generally welcoming and open to other folk, only tending to be openly aggressive when hunting. However, coloth rely on body language as a key component of their communication and as such, find dealing with other races frustrating and difficult. Coloth emotions differ greatly from that of other races as well as their bodily signs, tending to make them appear socially dense and awkward when around non-colothi.

Unremarkably, with these social impediments, coloth have weak familial bonds and rarely form close relationships with others. Trusting is a rare quality in a colothi, treating family members and allies as mere acquaintances. This does lead to self-reliance and a perceptive outlook, occasionally using the measure of others as a measure for their actions, being less trust and more predictability on the part of their companions.

This perception on the actions of others comes into play most often during hunting, an activity most all colothi savor, perhaps due to deep rooted instinctual nature. Though, when in areas where hunting for food isn't required to get by, "the hunt" turns into a challenge for any activity, and a colothi will pursue that end whole-heartedly.

Physical Description

The Coloth are a race of strong, carnivorous creatures the resemble partially anthropomorphic squids. Their skin, which has a rubbery feel to it, is mostly ranging from a sandy brown color to a light peach. The have two thick tentacles which act as legs and he lost almost all traces of manipulating ability. The other tentacles have formed into four arms, two on each side of the body. The former elongated had has now transformed into a body and the beak has become sharper and more a weapon of battle that before.

Relations

Colothi do not have any quarrel with other races but they cannot understand them to the extent they wish. Sahuagin, Kuo-Toa and Locathah all respect them for their strength and most land-walking races probably would too if they were aware of their existence.

Alignment

The Coloth have a hard time understanding rules and restrictions so most are Chaotic, though the odd Lawful is not unheard of, and can easily vary from Good to Evil, though neither side would be too explicit in their alignments.

Lands

Colothi live in the Oceans, mainly in their Sunken Cities but can live on land if they wanted so.

Religion

The only religion that The Colothi worship is the god Dashik, their creator and mentor.

Language

The race share a language in Colothi. They communicate with a series of squeaks and clicks accompanied by copious movements of the arm tentacles.

Names

Colothi are named after the first sound they make, dating back to the myth of the naming of the first Coloth, Figth. Because of this some names are nearly unpronounceable by other races so many Coloth simply choose another name if they do plan to deal with other races. Common names combine a body part with a concept or item.

Examples: Eyefire, Deatharm, Treebeak.
